Brewers Decorator Centres

Decorator’s merchant Brewers Decorator Centres has implemented a cancer carer service to directly support employees who are caring for a loved one with cancer.

Its Care for Carers programme, which is provided by Reframe Cancer, will be available to all of the employer’s 1,750 employees.

The Care for Carers service will provide Brewers’ staff with one-to-one carer consultations via chat or video with cancer support managers and cancer nurse specialists, offering clinical, emotional, and practical support along with bereavement advice, a digital carer portal to record and track a patient carer journey and access information and documentation, and a digital bespoke carer support plan with clinically verified advice, support and services.

It will also offer a carer resource library with clinically verified online resources to help a carer navigate carer journey, access to discounted partner networks to assist with specialist emotional, physical, and holistic support, and a consistent service via the same team member every time, offering the ability to develop rapport and trust.

The service builds on the existing cancer support benefit that Brewers already provides to employees.

Brewers decided to offer this support as part of its acknowledgement of cancer carers, who often juggle medical appointments and provide daily support, while working and coping with their own fears.

Jane Clifford, people director at Brewers Decorator Centres, said: “We are pleased to offer the Care for Carers service to our employees. While we have offered the Reframe cancer support service for more than a year, it became apparent that we also needed to offer a service to those who are supporting a family member with their cancer journey. Seeing a family member go through diagnosis, treatment and recovery can have a huge impact, so we are hopeful that offering this service gives our staff crucial, sensitive and personal support in their role supporting their loved ones.”
